A dreamy and cozy space that’s a true cabin in the woods. Long Tide Retreat is the most magical space to rest, reconnect and recharge, just 15 minutes from Apollo Bay, Victoria
Long Tide Retreat is a peaceful sanctuary where the forest meets the sea, a place to slow down, reconnect and exhale. Hidden high in the Otway hinterland above the Great Ocean Road, the retreat is surrounded by lush rainforest, rolling green lawns and expansive ocean views that seem to stretch forever.
At the heart of the property sits a beautifully restored timber A-frame barn, thoughtfully created as a warm and grounding space to retreat from busy schedules, noise and constant connection. Every detail has been chosen with comfort, calm and rest in mind, from soft lighting and natural textures to the crackling fire, deep bath and cozy corners made for reading, resting or simply watching the weather roll across the ocean.
Long Tide is an invitation to pause, breathe deeply and experience the quiet magic of nature.
Long Tide Retreat is located in Skenes Creek North, nestled high above the coastline in the breathtaking Otway Ranges on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. Perched approximately 350 metres above sea level, the property offers a rare combination of rainforest, ocean views and complete tranquility.
The surrounding region is known for its wild beauty, ancient temperate rainforest, towering trees, waterfalls, pristine beaches and the powerful Southern Ocean all within easy reach. Apollo Bay is just 15 minutes away from cafés, restaurants and supplies, while nearby Forrest, Lorne and the Great Ocean Walk offer endless opportunities for exploring.
Wildlife is part of everyday life here. Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and incredible birdlife regularly visit the property, while clear nights reveal unforgettable star-filled skies untouched by city lights.
Whether you spend your days exploring waterfalls and beaches or simply staying tucked away by the fire, the Otways have a way of helping people slow down and reconnect with nature.

Guests can enjoy complimentary locally roasted coffee, organic loose-leaf teas, books, board games, drawing supplies and a carefully curated collection of small comforts designed to help you fully unwind.
Long Tide is intentionally unplugged. While there is mobile reception, there is no guest Wi-Fi, encouraging guests to slow down, rest and immerse themselves in the rhythm of the landscape instead.

Long Tide Retreat is hosted by Jackie and Dale, who have lovingly restored and cared for the property over the past decade.
After both growing up rurally, they felt called back to a slower and more grounded way of living, one centred around nature, simplicity, creativity and wellbeing. Together they have gradually transformed the property into a peaceful sanctuary filled with native gardens, wildlife habitat, growing food, art, warmth and thoughtful detail.
Their approach to hosting is deeply personal. The retreat has been created as the kind of place they themselves long to stay in, somewhere calming, welcoming and nourishing for tired minds and bodies.
Jackie is a jeweller and creative, while Dale runs an Osteopathy practice from a separate private space beneath the barn on select days. Together, they share a love of gardening, wildlife, beautiful spaces and helping people feel truly at ease from the moment they arrive.
Guests are always given privacy, while knowing support and local knowledge are close by if needed.

Delight in our unique A-frame barn and immerse yourself in the feeling of tranquility in the forest.
